ROCKING: The Tailory NYC (suit, shirt) | Bailey (hat) | JAMS (shoes) | Sprezzabox (tie) | Arnold Steiner (pocket square)
Let's take a giant leap back to 1987... Yes, I'm that dork who references everything back to the lyrics of a song. No worries, someday, you'll get used to it. Do you see where I'm going with this yet?
Yup. You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal. (dun dun dun...)
Shao and Garrett, the women behind The Tailory NYC, really blew me out of the water with this one. They continue to push the limits and help me improve my wardrobe with clothes of supreme quality. I got to design this suit while introducing pieces of their Fall collection during NYFW.
To me, besides the fabric, one the elements that really make this suit unique is the lapel. I love peak lapels, and in my opinion the wider they are, the more powerful you look. It doesn't mean you should go overboard, remember the size your lapel should be proportionate to your face as well as the width of your shoulders. I went with a half-inch increase this time around, and I'm ecstatic with the results.
I really wanted to design a pinstripe suit, but I also wanted something unconventional. This version with the burgundy accents was just what I needed. It sort of makes me look like an OG. Armed with the right accessories, this is definitely a killer combo - a smooth criminal.
